Matthew 9:20-21 KJV
[20] And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: [21] for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
Do you know WHY the woman with the issue of blood believed that touching Jesus’s garment would heal her? If you don’t, let me tell you what I’m learning, it is soooo cool!
In the Old Testament (Numbers 15:37-41) God commands the Israelites to make garments and attach tassels on the corners of their garments. The tassels are to remind you of all the commands of the Lord. In Hebrew, the corner of a garment is Kanaf which translates into English as “wing”.
Now in Malachi, the last words that God’s people had to stand on in the scriptures before the 400-year Intertestamental Period were:
Malachi 4:2 KJV
[2] But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
The Sun of Righteousness is a Messianic title, so the Jewish people have been waiting and watching for the Messiah to come and they will recognize him by the healing in his wings. Jesus came on the scene healing the multitudes, “COULD THIS MAN BE THE MESSIAH?”
So in faith she reached out to touch his Kanaf (wing) where she could grab hold of the tassels that remind us of God’s ultimate authority
AND SHE WAS HEALED!! Set free from the chains that held her captive. Thank you God for sending your son so that we can be set free from whatever ails your children
