Greener Grass

I’ve had the “opportunity” to experience life on both sides of the fence and I am not here to shove my beliefs in anyone’s face or judge, but I will loudly and unapologetically share my personal experience and faith. Because if you only knew the difference Jesus has made in my life… my heart yearns for you to join me on this side of the fence!

What is love? What is success? What do you need to acquire in order to be fulfilled, satisfied? Love and success on the world’s side of the fence, is very materialistic. Your abilities, your possessions, your beauty, the people you know. The things that this world says are necessary are ever changing, fading away and wearing out. Temporary, momentary satisfaction.

For me, if it made me feel good, look impressive or desirable, that’s what I clung to and made my source of love and worth. Physical affection, money, my talents, the status I held. Constantly chasing after things that don’t stay around long enough to be caught. Leaving me feeling inadequate, exhausted, lonely and empty, I couldn’t win.

But let me tell you about the other side of the fence, God’s side. It took me losing the people and the things that I had strived so hard to obtain. My life’s dreams and goals stripped away, everything I believed would fulfill me, gone in the blink of an eye… that’s when I finally found true love, fulfillment and satisfaction.

Fulfillment begins with who you surround yourself with, not what you do or what you possess. Love begins when you invest in those connections that offer support and mutual growth. Satisfaction begins when you stop looking for external validation and start cultivating internal contentment through self-acceptance, gratitude, and purposeful action.

TRUE FULFILLMENT comes from a relationship with Jesus—a deep, abiding connection that nothing else can match. A close, private relationship with Christ that results in a strong desire to know, trust, and obey Him—and to accept His love.

TRUE LOVE, agape—a sacrificial, action-oriented, and unconditional love modeled by God– comes from a relationship with Jesus. The Lamb of God that took all our sins upon His back and was sacrificed so that we could be set free.

-John 3:16 KJV [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

TRUE SATISFACTION is found exclusively in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, rather than in worldly pursuits. Our Heavenly Father knows EXACTLY what you need, what you desire and He wants nothing more than a relationship with His children. To give them the good and perfect gifts He has available.

James 1:17 (NIV): “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

Matthew 7:11 (NIV): “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

Romans 8:32 (NIV): “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”

Psalm 84:11 (ESV): “…No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

James 1:5 (ESV): “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”

Luke 6:38 (ESV): “…good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.”

Feeling true intimacy with your Heavenly Father, being filled to overflowing with the good gifts that a perfect father offers His children…when you discover how much greener the grass is on God’s side of the fence, get ready to be amazed!
